Health is Wealth

Your health is the most important resource you have.

Investing proactively in your health now is as important as investing and saving for retirement, but few of us ever think this way.

Why is that?

The unfortunate truth is that traditional healthcare is set up to treat acute diseases, manage chronic illness, and to meet the needs of an “average” patient.

But you are far from average, and you deserve more. You deserve healthcare that views your life through a long lens and thinks about your health now, ten years from now, and thirty plus years from now.

At Aevitas we ask our patients to imagine the life they want now, in ten years, and when they are ninety. And we work together to reverse engineer the steps to make that a reality.

Lifespan and Healthspan

Lifespan is how long you live.

We all want to live a long time, but intuitively we know that a long life without quality of life is not what we desire.

The unfortunate reality for most people is that the last few decades of life will be spent in a continual decline.

Think of friends or family you know who have gradually lost their ability to be active, pursue the things they love, or remain independent.

Lifespan is worth improving, but to really maximize it’s effect, we want to pair it with something called healthspan.

Healthspan is how much of your life is spent healthy and free of disease.

You are free of chronic disease, able to be active, adventurous, and grow mentally and physically.

Without healthspan, our lives are significantly diminished in quality.

Once you lose your healthspan, it can be impossible to get it back, no matter how many resources you throw at the problem.

So then, our challenge is to maximize the time we spend inside our healthspan.

Shifting Your Curve With Aevitas and Med 3.0

  • As we age (move right on the horizontal axis) our healthspan declines.

  • The average American follows the first curve or second curve (no intervention or MED 2.0), enjoying relative good health for the first 3 to 5 decades of life, before entering a gradual healthspan (health) decline that accelerates more quickly as we grow older. This is what we recognize as aging today; a decline in our abilities to stay healthy, be mobile, and remain independent.

  • The second dashed curve (MED 2.0) shows the impact healthcare 2.0 has on longevity (how long we live) and healthspan (how long we maintain health). Unfortunately, the rate of healthspan decline is only marginally delayed. Longevity is increased slightly, but the years added are in a diminished state of health, at the tail end of life.

  • The third curve (MED 3.0) shows the promise of healthcare 3.0, with an emphasis on proactively optimizing health across a lifetime. The rate of decline is dramatically slowed, and the amount of time spent in healthspan is increased by multiple decades.

  • Our mission at Aevitas is for our patients to follow the third curve’s trajectory, with the vast majority of their life spent disease free and healthy.

  • Living a life along the third curve means spending 7, 8, or 9 plus decades in great health, with mobility, stamina, and independence well into “old” age. We believe this is possible for you.

The “4 Horsemen” of chronic aging (as popularized by Dr. Peter Attia)

  • The diseases of atherosclerosis, including heart attack, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease.

We work with patients to modify and mitigate genetic and lifestyle risk factors that increase their risk of suffering a heart attack or stroke.

Our goal is to prevent atherosclerosis or delay it as far into the future as possible.

  • As you age your risk for developing cancer rises dramatically.

Early detection and prevention is key. We help our patients screen aggressively for cancer and help patients make dramatic health and lifestyle changes to decrease their risk of developing cancer.

  • As you age your risk for cognitive decline from diseases rises dramatically.

The most common neurodegenerative condition of aging is Alzheimer’s disease, but there are many additional diseases and risk factors at hand.

Treatment options are currently limited so prevention and risk mitigation is of paramount importance.

  • A wide array of diseases and conditions that arise from underlying metabolic dysfunction, including:

    -Diabetes

    -Fatty liver

    -hyperinsulinemia

-insulin resistance (especially at the muscle)

These conditions are rising at alarming rates and create a cascade of downstream health complications.

We help patients optimize metabolic health through diet, VO2 max and strength training protocols, CGM (continuous glucose monitoring) and more.

We work hard to decrease your risk of the “4 Horsemen”

-Our longevity membership patients work with us to optimize each of the “4 Horsemen” via multiple attack angles, including exercise protocols, nutrition, sleep, medications (when appropriate), and ongoing biometric data collection over time.
